Bremerhaven. (bm) German-speaking readers may remember the »Plantbullar«, which we presented here in July 2020. The purely vegetable alternative to Ikea’s »Köttbullar« gets company. Strictly speaking, the Swedish furniture store wants to consistently change the offerings in its restaurants with the goal that by 2025 approximately 50 percent of meals worldwide will be based on plants. Ikea has realized that the furniture store not only sells unimaginably large quantities of Köttbullar – more than a billion meatballs per annum worldwide. But that a great responsibility also arises from these large quantities. Last but not least, it is a great opportunity for the planet and the people who inhabit it, if the consumption of meat can be reduced significantly. Other topics of the week:
